Gautam Gambhir, a former cricket player for India and current coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders, praised Chennai Super Kings’ strategic acumen for using MS Dhoni’s unmatched skill in the Indian Premier League 2024.
Gambhir stressed that Dhoni’s ability to have an instant influence on the game has been released by CSK’s tactical approach, especially in giving him the finisher’s position with just 8–10 balls remaining.
“CSK’s strategy—Dhoni facing just eight to ten balls—is what has allowed Dhoni the flexibility. Teams employ varied tactics, and CSK has been using this approach for the previous two to three years. Dhoni’s influence has been possible because of his independence. In a conversation with Sportskeeda, Gambhir said, “When you play 20–25 balls, you have that responsibility to consolidate, but when it’s just 8–10 balls, you can go out there and express yourself with freedom.”
Drawing attention to Dhoni’s outstanding performance in the current IPL season, Gambhir emphasized the leadership qualities that he and Dhoni had throughout their IPL battle.
“In my opinion, a player’s insecurity is the main cause of their failure. It’s not a skill issue. You will never make it to the first-class, IPL, or international levels if you lack the necessary skills. For this reason, having a safe changing area is crucial. “A safe and secure locker room makes for a happy and ultimately successful locker room,” Gambhir said, considering the favorable conditions that lead to players’ achievements.
The experienced cricketer has shown off his unparalleled finishing abilities with his outstanding hitting power in the IPL 2024. Dhoni is about to accomplish a noteworthy feat in the IPL: 250 sixes. Dhoni has had an indisputable effect on CSK’s results with a remarkable strike rate of 229.16 in 10 games.
Dhoni (14 off 11) had a little setback against Punjab Kings when he was run out on the last ball of the innings, which was his first dismissal of the season. Nevertheless, his importance in leading CSK through stressful times has not reduced.
