Glamorgan historic chase to draw the game chasing 593 at Cheltenham was ended by Gloucestershire wicket-keeper James Bracey, who caught Glamorgan’s Jamie Mcllroy off the last delivery in the County Championship Division Two match between the two teams without wearing a glove.
Although it was frustrating to lose the match after setting a large goal of 593, Bracey told BBC Sport Bristol that it was an incredible game to be a part of. Gloucestershire had scored 610-5 in their third innings.
To be honest, I’m quite sad since we should have won the game. However, when it all sinks in, we’ll probably realize that we won by eight points heading into the last ball, not by eight.
It’s very incredible on all counts, since after the first innings you wouldn’t have envisioned it going to the final ball with a chase close to 600.
He gave respect to both teams’ hitters, with himself topping the score with an undefeated 204, while Miles Hammond and Cameron Bancroft both achieved three figures. Glamorgan’s captain, Sam Northeast, scored 187, while Marnus Labuschagne scored 119 for the team. With Gloucestershire bowling 152 overs in the fourth innings, he was particularly pleased with the way the bowlers were accurate throughout the match.
“There is much to be said about the caliber of the batting, but our bowlers put in a lot of effort. Sam and Marnus played outstanding innings, and three of our players scored hundreds. Eight points each is probably pretty fair, in your opinion.”
