The two-Test series against Bangladesh will start a rigorous period of successive Test matches for the Indian cricket team before their big Tour of Australia.
The Indian cricket squad will reconvene for the Bangladesh Test series next month, following a protracted hiatus following their victory over Sri Lanka. Indian cricket players don’t often get to take such a long vacation. However, the seniors would be more than happy for the respite following months of intense cricket activity. Before the Indian cricket team embarks on their major tour of Australia, a demanding stretch of Test matches will begin with the two-Test series against Bangladesh.
Nevertheless, Jasprit, India’s top fast bowler, could not be part of the team that plays Bangladesh, according an Indian Express report. The Indian team’s demanding schedule for the foreseeable future is cited as the cause.
Furthermore, there’s a chance Mohammed Shami will return during this series. Jasprit Bumrah may perhaps benefit from some more rest from the BCCI selection.
Bumrah has had several injury-related pauses in the recent past. He was so disabled that in September 2022, he had surgery in March 2023 to treat a stress fracture in his back.
The BCCI has chosen to move one of the initial matches from Anantapur to Bengaluru since several of the regular players for India, with the exception of pacer Jasprit Bumrah and senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, are expected to play in the first round of the Duleep Trophy.
Senior hitters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli may also be granted an exemption, and it is completely up to them whether or not they participate in the competition.
at order to minimize logistical difficulties, one of the Duleep Trophy’s two sets of first-round matches that were originally slated to begin on September 5 at Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, have been moved to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium here.
Bengaluru and Anantapur are around 230 kilometers apart, and there is no air travel between the two cities.
A source close to the development told PTI, “The decision has been made to accommodate some of the top players, so that they get a feel of the red-ball cricket ahead of the (Test) series against Bangladesh.”
Two Test matches between India and Bangladesh are scheduled to begin on September 19 in Chennai and September 27 in Kanpur.
Although Rohit and Kohli have the option to participate, other well-known players like Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav, and others are anticipated to be completely or partially available for this competition.
