Ravichandran Ashwin, an experienced Indian off-spinner, acknowledged on Saturday that he realized he needed to improve his game, particularly with his batting, during the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year with the Rajasthan Royals.
Ashwin, who will captain Dindigul Dragons against Lyca Kovai Kings in the Tamil Nadu Premier League final here on Sunday, has been outstanding with the bat this season, ranking third in the league in runs scored.
In addition, his effective use of reverse sweeps, particularly against left-arm spinners R Sai Kishore and S Ajith Ram in Qualifier 2 versus Idream Tiruppur Tamizhans, has drawn notice.
Since I know I can utilize my feet and strike the ball down the ground, I felt like I wanted to broaden my horizons and game during the most recent Indian Premier League.
“Ashwin had to question myself if I wanted to look into other choices. I will have a fresh direction to explore and a way to stay engaged in the game if I can answer that question.”

The captain of Lyca, Shahrukh, stated that he had a good experience batting against spinners when playing for the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League.
We held a camp there for a few months when I was with the Gujarat Titans. They wanted me to bat up the order, so I started focusing a lot on my spin game,” he stated.
Additionally, when you bat up the order, opposing teams will undoubtedly introduce spin when I come to bat since I am a batter who is very concerned about spin.
“Their assistance was beneficial in helping me enhance my spin technique. I can now clearly see that I’m using the front press in this TNPL, and it has enabled me to score with both feet.”
The 29-year-old all-rounder has the best strike rate (191.37) of any player on the club and has been his team’s second-highest run scorer for the season, behind B Sai Sudharsan.
The TNPL final starts at 7.15 pm and will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
