As India’s head coach Rahul Dravid attended the press conference prior to their T20 World Cup 2024 match against Afghanistan, he was reminded of some painful memories. Despite having a stellar career with the Indian team, Dravid didn’t have the finest playing record in Barbados when he accepted the coaching position. The India head coach appeared irritated and lost his temper as a reporter brought up his dismal performance at the location.
Giving the reporter the full rundown of his mentality, Dravid stated that he doesn’t dwell on his former accomplishments as a player and instead moves on swiftly, focusing exclusively on his work as a coach.
Reporter: “Rahul, you have participated here as a player. “The 97 Test memories aren’t the best ones.”
Dravid: “Wow, such a big thank you, buddy! Here, too, I have some more pleasant recollections.”
Reporter: “I really have a question about it. a possibility tomorrow for you to most likely create brand-new, superior memories?”
Dravid: “Oh my God! Man, I’m not attempting to create anything new!
When India played the West Indies in 1997, Dravid visited Barbados. The Indian team lost the Test match in Bridgetown by 38 runs despite a 78 and 2 score from Dravid. The renowned cricketer, who is currently coaching the Indian squad, is solely focused on the current assignment and is not considering events that occurred over 25 years ago.
“I get over things quite quickly. It’s one of my interests. I don’t reflect on the past. I make an effort to pay attention to what I am doing right now. What occurred in 1997 or any other year doesn’t worry me.
“You know, by winning this… I would have been concerned if you had informed me that by winning, we would have scored 121 instead of 80 odd. But no matter how hard I strive, even if we win this game tomorrow, it will still just be 80 points on the scoresheet. No, I don’t consider taking revenge. I let things go. What’s good or awful in front of me?
“I no longer consider myself to be much of a player. Yes, please proceed. At the news conference, he stated, “It’s important to concentrate on tomorrow and strive for a good outcome.”
