Prior to the 2024 Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL), all-arounders Erin Burns of Australia and Chloe Tryon of South Africa have joined the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Together with Shabnim Ismail, Karishma Ramharack, Shemaine Campbelle, Natasha McClean, and Shakera Selman, Stafanie Taylor has been retained as the team captain for the Amazon Warriors. Taylor led the team to the competition final the previous season.
To make up their 15-player roster, they require seven additional players. One of them—the last foreign selection—will be confirmed prior to the start of the new season, while the other six will be selected from the WCPL draft, which is scheduled for July.
Tryon has played in 98 Twenty20 Internationals for South Africa, scoring 1136 runs and claiming 35 wickets. She is presently touring India with the national squad. Burns brings with her 162 T20 games played, 117 of which were played at home in the Women’s Big Bash League, where she played for the Hobart Hurricanes and the Sydney Sixers. She was a member of the Barbados Royals team that won the championship the previous year. She has amassed 2429 runs and taken 80 wickets.
The Brian Lara Cricket Academy will host all seven of this year’s World Cricket Premier League matches from August 21 to August 29 in Trinidad. The Trinbago Knight Riders, Amazon Warriors, and Royals will compete in the third season of the event.
