Star batsman Virat Kohli of India went viral once more after the team’s triumphant bus procession in Mumbai. On July 4, the Men in Blue arrived back in Delhi after their trip to Barbados. After meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, the group traveled to Mumbai to take part in the festivities.
The entire side marched from Marine Drive to Wankhede Stadium as part of a procession. Virat Kohli was seen requesting that Rajeev Shukla move aside so that he could make room for Rohit Sharma as the two raised the trophy in celebration in front of a sizable audience that had come to see the Indian team celebrate.
It is noteworthy that following India’s successful return from Barbados as the T20 World Cup winners, both Rohit and Kohli declared their retirements from Twenty20 international cricket.
This is the first time in 15 years: Kohli on Rohit Sharma’s emotions
Upon winning the Twenty20 World Cup, the Indian players were overcome with emotion. All-rounder Hardik Pandya became upset, while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma both lost control of their tears.
Speaking about Rohit losing control of his emotions, Virat Kohli came forth to say that he had not seen Rohit act that emotional in 15 years and that he was aware that the World Cup final would be his last Twenty20 international match.
“I had not witnessed Rohit exhibit such emotion in fifteen years. At the Wankhede Stadium, Kohli remarked, “He was crying and I was crying when we were climbing those steps (at Kensington Oval).”
“I hope that Rohit and I have lifted the load and done our best to bring the trophy back here (Wankhede).” He said, “I realized halfway through the game that it was time to pass the torch to the next generation.”
