The 20 players who the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) believes might be in and near the Indian team for the T20 World Cup are essentially the ones that have caught them off guard. According to a PTI report, if they are in form, tried-and-true players will be traveling to the Caribbean and the US for the prestigious T20 event, with the exception of an occasional adjustment made with IPL results in mind.
A few players are vying for the second wicketkeeper position, with Rishabh Pant securing the first one, while Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are tied for first place in the team of 15. Ishan Kishan, Jitesh Sharma, and KL Rahul are just a few of the players Sanju Samson must contend with. Though Jitesh was the Indian team’s first-choice keeper in T20s before the IPL, he could be the last man standing and is unlikely to make the squad.
“No trial and error or unexpected choices would be made. A BCCI official was reported in the newspaper as stating, “All those who have played for India and have done well consistently in T20 Internationals and the IPL will be rewarded.”
Considering the positions of the hitters, the wicketkeeper may also make a choice. For their individual IPL teams, Rahul and Ishan are the openers, while Sanju, Pant, and Jitesh bat in the middle order.
With Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav occupying the first two positions, the third spinner is probably going to be another topic of concern. With Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Bishnoi vying for the same spot, or with Axar potentially making an inroad because to his batting prowess, would India be prepared to accept a leg-spinner? A fascinating few days are in store.
