Chennai Super Kings’ IPL 2024 campaign came to a tragic end on Saturday as they were defeated by Royal Challengers Bengaluru by a score of 27 runs. The topic of discussion ever since the loss and CSK’s elimination from the IPL this year has been whether MS Dhoni would declare his retirement or whether the seasoned wicketkeeper will return for one final game in the IPL 2025. According to pundit and former CSK batsman Robin Uthappa, Dhoni will return to the Yellow uniform for the next IPL season.
“I don’t think we have seen the last of MS,” Uthappa stated in a conversation with JioCinema. He does not treat these matters lightly. During his JioCinema speech, Uthappa declared, “He will definitely return roaring.”
“Despite the story, there is a reason why I have only seen him bat in the last four or five overs. His calf injury was a bit more serious than they first expected, even though they first believed it may just be a niggle. like a result, he had to learn how to regulate himself. Frequently, like he did in international cricket, he found a way to help CSK and be beneficial to the team,” the former CSK batter continued.
MS Dhoni leads CSK fightback against RCB:
Notably, Dhoni’s 25-run (off 13 balls) innings on Saturday gave CSK a chance to compete against RCB. Ultimately, CSK required 17 runs from the last over in order to go to the playoffs. As he has so often done in the past, MS Dhoni opened the over with a huge six to put rookie Yash Dayal under strain.
But the left-hander bounced back, dismissing Dhoni and adding a dot ball and a single in the next over. Then, CSK needed 10 runs in only two balls, but Yash Dayal’s slower deliveries were too much for a well-conditioned Ravindra Jadeja to handle.
