Pacer Yash Dayal of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru revealed how being destroyed by Rinku Singh in the previous season altered his course in life and made him a better player. Dayal, who played for the Gujarat Titans in the 2023 Indian Premier League, had a lot of changes after being hit for five consecutive sixes by Rinku during the game against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
After the game, Dayal was dropped from the GT starting lineup and was eventually cut before the 2024 campaign. But after paying an incredible INR 5 crore to get him because they saw potential in him, the left-arm pacer has excelled for RCB. With fifteen wickets under his belt, he has been the RCB’s top wicket-taker this edition.
By keeping MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja apart to defend 17 runs in the last over against Chennai Super Kings, the left-arm bowler was instrumental in RCB’s playoff run.
Dayal stated that the five sixes against Rinku launched his career since he took a lot of lessons from that time after leading RCB to victory against CSK.

Dayal stated ahead of the RR game on Jio Cinema, “The spike in my career is because of that over, it made me face the realities of life. It gave me a lot of learning. That over taught me how to prepare for things that I am not prepared for. That over taught me how to tackle situations in life.”
The 26-year-old also discussed how he felt unwell prior to that match against KKR but that he overcame it. He also discussed the reactions of GT players and management following the game.
“Before that match, I had viral fever. I was pushing myself to play. If I was honest with myself and the team management, I would not have played that match against KKR. I went back to the dressing room after the match. The GT team management and players did not even discuss that over. Ashish Nehra told me to focus on the next thing in life and asked me to work a little harder,” Dayal stated.
But since joining RCB, his life has taken a turn for the better, and he now loves playing for the Bengaluru-based team.
“Very happy to be a part of RCB and there is a different enjoyment in being an RCBian, that I am getting to feel now,” Dayal said.
