India defeated Bangladesh by 60 runs at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Saturday, putting up an excellent display in their lone warm-up match before to the commencement of their T20 World Cup campaign. After India reached 182 for five because to the aggressive strokes of Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya at the bat, Bangladesh was reduced to 122 for nine in 20 overs thanks to a masterful display from the bowlers.
A fan entered the newly constructed stadium in New York during the game in order to see Rohit Sharma. That took place while Bangladesh was pursuing India. Before two officers tackled and detained the fan, who had managed to give the Indian captain an embrace, Rohit pleaded with them to be kind to the fan and not punish him. During the game, the footage rapidly went popular on social media.
This was the third time a fan has gotten past security at an event to see Rohit this year. The other two incidents were in the Mumbai Indians’ opening IPL 2024 match and during the home Test series against England, when a fan approached Rohit and touched his foot during the Hyderabad game.
How India beat Bangladesh in T20 World Cup warm-up game
The 2007 winners, who chose to bat first in New York, the site of three of India’s four league matches in the T20 World Cup, lost Sanju Samson in the opening over before Pant struck a brilliant fifty-three off thirty-two balls, including four boundaries and as many sixes. After recovering from a dismal IPL 2024 season, Hardik hammered 40 off 23, including two boundaries and four sixes, to help India reach their target of 182.
Bangladesh’s top-order collapse was set off by Arshdeep Singh, who claimed two wickets in his opening two overs during the chase. Bangladesh’s best batsman was Mahmadullah, while the other players in the lineup failed to contain the Indian attack, ultimately falling short at 122 for nine in 20 overs. With the ball, Shivam Dube too displayed impressive skills, concluding with 2 for 13 in three overs.
On June 5, India will take on Ireland in their inaugural T20 World Cup match at the same location.
