As he and Phil Salt gave the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) another fast start on Sunday, May 5, in a matchup against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Sunil Narine continued his scorching form in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL).
Salt and Narine combined for 61 runs in 26 balls before the latter left after scoring 32 in 14 balls. Nevertheless, Narine persisted in his assault, ripping off an astonishing 81 runs in 39 balls with six boundaries and seven sixes to steal the game from the home team.
With a remarkable season total of 452 runs and 14 wickets, the KKR star is ranked third on the orange cap list and sixth on the purple cap tally. He has been in incredible form. After Andre Russell, Shane Watson, and Jacques Kallis, Narine is just the fourth cricket player in history to capture ten or more wickets and score more than 450 runs in a single season.
With his outstanding performance of 81, Narine reached the milestone of 1500 runs in his IPL career. With a strike rate of 166.33 and an average of 17.32 throughout 173 games (107 innings), the West Indies icon has 1507 runs under his belt. With 176 wickets, he is now the fifth-highest wicket-taker in history.

Narine’s amazing accomplishment has made him only the third player in history, behind Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Since he has only played for the Knight Riders since making his IPL debut in 2012, Narine is the only player to accomplish the record while representing a single franchise.
Narine 1500+ run and 150+ Wicket in ipl history
Bravo and Jadeja have played with CSK for the most of their careers, although neither has scored more than one goal while playing for the Men in Yellow alone. Bravo amassed 1004 runs and claimed 140 wickets throughout his CSK tenure. Jadeja, on the other hand, has contributed 133 wickets and 1639 runs to the five-time winners. Jadeja will become the second player to accomplish the record while playing for the same side, after Narine, if he takes 17 more wickets for the Super Kings.
During his IPL career, Bravo also played for the Gujarat Lions and Mumbai Indians. Prior to his big-money acquisition by CSK in 2012, Jadeja spent a season as a player for the Kochi Tuskers after beginning his career with the Rajathan Royals. In 2016 and 2017, he was a player with the Gujarat Lions.
