The Tamil Nadu basketball team will have two international players in the 2019 FIBA West Asia Super League – Final 8. Doha is set to host the competition from May 25 to June 1.
As the national winners, TN will compete on the continent on behalf of India. Ten players from around the nation will be chosen from among the 12 cagers on the squad.
Two American players were reportedly in negotiations with the Basketball Federation of India (BFI), however it is unclear if any agreements have been reached.
TN is grouped with the Kuwait Club, Kazma, and Shahrdary Gorgan from Kuwait and Iran. Group A is made up of Manama (Bahrain), CS Sagesse (Lebanon), BC Astana (Kazakhstan), and Al Riyadi (Lebanon). Each group’s top two teams go to the semifinals, while the winners advance to the Basketball Champions League Asia in June in Dubai.
The players on the TN squad are probably Indian internationals who participated in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 qualifications lately; Vishesh Bhriguvanshi, a former captain of India and recipient of the Arjuna award, will not be playing in the competition. The Chennai Heat, winners of the Indian National Basketball League (INBL), were scheduled to play in the West Asia League “Final 8” the previous year. However, because of administrative problems at BFI, the club was had to pull out of the competition.

Thyagraj Stadium hosted the announcement of the Indian National Basketball League (INBL) Pro, a six-city franchise-based team concept. The players for the teams will be chosen by the league through a fair auction process. Preseason, regular season, and postseason will all be included.
