At the Wankhede Stadium, Kolkata Knight Riders beat Mumbai Indians by 24 runs in Match 51 of the IPL 2024 on Friday. After 12 years, this was KKR’s first victory against MI at the stadium.
KKR was momentarily reduced to 57/5 after being asked to bat, but Venkatesh Iyer (70) steadied the ship with a courageous effort.
In the last over of the KKR innings, Jasprit Bumrah clean bowled Venkatesh Iyer.
MI were rocked by Mitchell Starc in the run chase. The Australian struck in the second over to remove Ishan Kishan before getting three more wickets in the death overs. He finished with figures of 4/33, his best return with the ball this season.
