On Saturday, April 6, at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, K, during match 19 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), Virat Kohli blasted an unbeaten 113 against Rajasthan Royals (RR), smashing his eighth century in the IPL and ninth century overall in T20 cricket.
With this century, Kohli rose to the third position on the list of men’s cricket players with the most hundreds in T20 cricket history. With 22 T20 century to his credit, Chris Gayle, a former colleague of Kohli’s with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), tops the list.

Babar ahead of Kohli
With two more hundreds than his hero Virat Kohli, Pakistan’s Babar Azam, who is ranked second on the list, is much superior than Gayle among batters. With his age still on his side, 29-year-old Babar could as well obtain Gayle’s number.
Kohli’s centuries in IPL
In the history of the IPL, the 35-year-old RCB player has struck eight hundreds. 2016 saw Kohli get his first century in the IPL. During that season, he achieved an IPL record of four centuries, which hasn’t been surpassed. Then, in the 2022 Indian Premier League, the maestro scored two centuries, and again in 2019.

Kohli’s lone T20 international century occurred in the Asia Cup 2022 match at the Dubai Intentional Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates against Afghanistan.
Most catches in IPL history by Virat Kohli
Kolhli was not the only one who set a record with the hundred. He broke the record for most catches by a non-wicket-keeping fielder in IPL history after completing the catch at short mid-wicket to grab Riyan Parag off Yash Dayal. Suresh Raina, who had grabbed 109 catches in 205 matches, was passed by him. After 242 games, Kohli currently has 110.
