Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had lost seven of their opening eight games in the current IPL 2024 season, and many had written them off. However, they disproved their doubters by winning their next six games, the most significant of which being on Saturday night when RCB defeated the five-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to earn a spot in the postseason.
A video of Virat Kohli explaining that sometimes even a one percent chance is good enough went viral following the thrilling victory.
“One percent chance exists, and occasionally that chance is sufficient. What counts, though, is how you feel about that one percent. To turn that one into ten, and then into thirty, are you prepared to give it all you have? “It might eventually produce something magical,”

It’s remarkable how those remarks came to pass in terms of RCB’s playoff run this year, and Kohli ended up being a key player in crafting that comeback by being the league’s leading run scorer.
With his 29-ball 47 in RCB’s 27-run victory over CSK on Saturday, Orange Cap holder Kohli has amassed an incredible 708 runs in 14 innings of play in the IPL 2024.
RCB amassed a respectable 218 for 5 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, owing to efforts from all across the batting order, capped by captain Faf du Plessis’s 39-ball 54 on a challenging surface. After that, the hosts shut out CSK for 191 for 7, winning by 27 runs.
That’s not the whole story, though; if CSK had scored 201 runs, they would have advanced to the playoffs even though they lost. But in the match’s last over, RCB paceman Yash Dayal (2/43) maintained composure to restrict the five-time champs.
It took RCB’s points tally to 14, the same as CSK, but the Bengaluru outfit leapfrogged Chennai in the net run-rate column and will finish fourth.
The top four teams at the end of the league stage qualify for the playoffs. Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad have already booked their spots in the top four.
