After defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets on Sunday, the Kolkata Knight Riders won their third overall title as the IPL came to an end in Chennai.
Groundskeepers and curators of all ten regular IPL sites will receive Rs 25 lakh apiece as a thank you for creating “brilliant pitches” during the season, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said on Monday, referring to them as “unsung heroes”. After defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets on Sunday, the Kolkata Knight Riders won their third overall title as the IPL came to an end in Chennai.
“The unsung heroes of our successful T20 season are the incredible ground staff who worked tirelessly to provide brilliant pitches, even in difficult weather conditions,” Shah said in a post on X.
The groundskeepers and curators at the 10 normal IPL locations will get INR 25 lakhs each as a symbol of our gratitude, and the same at the 3 extra venues will receive INR 10 lakhs each. I appreciate all of your effort and commitment,” he exclaimed.
Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur are the ten regular locations for the Indian Premier League.
This year, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Dharamsala were added locations. The first leg of the home match between the Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals was held in Visakhapatnam, while the second leg was held at Guwahati.
The second base for Kings XI Punjab was Dharamsala. High-scoring games have been the talk of this year’s IPL, with two records for the highest team total broken. This season, the 250-run threshold was crossed as many as eight times.
Shah also gave KKR his due respect after winning the championship.
“Happy to hear that the @KKRiders have won the 2024 #TATAIPL! Throughout the competition, the team shown remarkable consistency, and @ShreyasIyer15 deserves special recognition for his outstanding team leadership.
“Once again, thank you to the fans for coming out in big numbers and for making this yet another successful season!” he stated.
