Rohit Sharma is among the most prolific batters in the contemporary game because of his ability to routinely knock sixes. Additionally, the Indian captain set a milestone on Sunday by becoming the nation’s first batsman to hit 500 sixes in T20 cricket.
When he smacked Ravindra Jadeja for a slog sweep in the Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2024 encounter against the Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium, Rohit reached the milestone.
Chris Gayle, a West Indies great who hit 1056 sixes in 463 matches, tops the list. With 860 maximums in 625 matches across 660 games, Kieron Pollard, a current batting instructor and Rohit’s former MI colleague, ranks second.

Earlier in the game, while fielding, Rohit’s pants slid, putting him in an awkward predicament.
The audience erupted in amusement when Rohit’s trousers fell down during the 12th over of the game when he was trying to take a diving catch off CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. He tried holding on to the catch, but was unable to do so, and the incident involving his pants made it even more entertaining.
Speaking about his future, Rohit stated that he intends to “continue for a few more years” and that he “really” wants to win the 2027 ODI World Cup after the trophy escaped him in the 2023 mega-event due to “one bad day.”
While Rohit, 36, was a member of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup winning team, he regards the 50-over exhibition match as the genuine deal. When that chance was lost after the team’s final defeat to Australia in Ahmedabad last year, he was devastated.
“I haven’t given retiring any thought. I’m not sure where life will lead you, though. I’m playing well right now, and I plan to keep playing for a few more years. In an appearance on the YouTube talk program “Breakfast With Champions,” which British pop star Ed Sheeran also attended, he declared, “I really want to win that World Cup.”
