On Wednesday, Shubman Gill, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, reached a new milestone by being the second-youngest player to appear in 100 IPL games. At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, he achieved this feat as he stepped to the middle for the toss against the Delhi Capitals.
Shubman, who is 24 years and 229 days old, is the second-youngest player in IPL history to reach the 100-match milestone.
At 24 years and 221 days old, Afghanistan’s talented spinner Rashid Khan became the youngest player to achieve this milestone, having participated in his 100th IPL match.
At the age of 25, 182 days, Indian batting sensation Virat Kohli participated in his 100th IPL match.
Sanju Samson, captain of the Rajasthan Royals, and Piyush Chawla, who turned 26 years old and 108 days, respectively, when they played their 100th match, come in fourth and fifth place on the list.
“Playing 100 IPL matches means a lot to me; I’ve gone a long way and have a long way to go, but today’s game is the main emphasis. “In cricket, there will inevitably be highs and lows; you should play to your strengths,” Shubman stated after choosing to bowl on Monday against the Delhi Capitals.
“We are on the same team. We’ve been chasing well these past few games, so it seems like a decent wicket,” Gill continued.
After the ICC U-19 World Cup, Shubman made his IPL debut with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and in the little period that has elapsed since then, very few have been able to match his incredible career.
In 99 games—three hundreds and twenty fifties—Shubman has amassed 3,088 runs at an average of 38.12 and a strike rate of 38.12. His greatest score is 129. As of right now, he is the 25th-highest run scorer in league history.
