Usain Bolt, an Olympian, has been named a brand ambassador for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday. The competition will take place in the USA and the West Indies from June 1 to June 29.
With his involvement, Bolt unites the domains of cricket and athletics, adding a degree of international prominence. His unmatched athletic legacy and endearing personality are expected to expand the tournament’s appeal and stoke passion among supporters all across the world.
A few weeks before the greatest cricket carnival extravaganza in history, which is expected to entice a new generation of fans, kicks off, the news is made. Bolt is the ideal choice for the largest T20 World Cup ever because of his immense popularity on a worldwide scale, his incredible athletic accomplishments, and his capacity to overcome obstacles.
When Bolt accomplished the “Triple-Triple,” winning three gold medals in three straight Olympic Games, he made Olympic history in Rio in 2016. His ascent to global fame began in 2008 when he set world records in the 100-, 200-, and 4×100-meter relay events in the Beijing Olympic Games.
As an ambassador, Bolt will be heavily involved in advertising the event. He will begin by making a brief appearance with legendary musicians Sean Paul and Kes in the official music video for the event, which will be released next week.
The eight-time Olympic gold medallist will also take part in fan engagement activities to promote the sport in the US and watch T20 World Cup matches in the West Indies.
Bolt said he was excited about his new position and that, as a Caribbean native, he has always had a particular place in his heart for the sport.
Being an ambassador for the next ICC Men’s T20 World Cup makes me very happy. “Cricket has always held a special place in my heart, coming from the Caribbean where it’s a way of life. I look forward to attending West Indies matches at the World Cup and contributing to the growth of cricket globally,” Bolt was said in an ICC media release.
“Getting cricket into the US is significant for cricket, even though I will definitely be rooting for the West Indies at the World Cup. It is the largest sports market in the world, and the excitement we will create for the T20 World Cup presents a significant chance for cricket to be included in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.”
“We are excited to have Usain Bolt join us as an ambassador for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, as he is a global icon who will help us connect with a new generation of fans.” Given his well-known enthusiasm for cricket, he is an ideal candidate for this position. In addition to his extraordinary accomplishments and upbeat demeanor, he will bring something extra thrilling to the World Cup.” Geoff
