Rajasthan Royals dealt a heartbreaking loss to Virat Kohli’s RCB in the IPL 2024 Eliminator. Even with Kohli’s steady play, RCB’s pursuit of the coveted IPL championship goes on. In order to realize his goal of winning an IPL championship, Kevin Pietersen stated that it could be time for Kohli to think about switching to a different team.
In the Eliminator on Wednesday, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, led by captain Virat Kohli, lost by four wickets against Rajasthan Royals, sending them out of the IPL 2024. This was just another setback for the team. Even with Kohli’s steady play and his attempts to guide the club to victory, RCB is still unable to win an IPL championship.
After the game, former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen said that if Kohli wanted to win an IPL championship, he could think about switching to a different team.
The greatest players in other sports have left their clubs to pursue fame and fortune elsewhere, as I have stated before and will again. Even after his tireless efforts—winning the Orange Cap and accomplishing a great deal—the franchise flops miserably. I see the value he adds to the team’s brand and its commercial potential. However, Virat Kohli merits an award. Pietersen said, “He should be on a squad that can help him win that trophy.
Pietersen also emphasized Kohli’s Delhi origins and recommended that he think about playing for the Delhi Capitals.
He compared himself to legendary athletes who changed teams in order to succeed, such as Harry Kane, Lionel Messi, David Beckham, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I truly believe Delhi should be the location. It’s imperative that Virat travel to Delhi. I am aware that Virat owns a house in Delhi, so he is free to travel or spend most of his time at home. His family is young. He is able to stay longer there. He’s a youngster from Delhi. Why is he unable to return? Delhi is just as in need as Bengaluru,” he continued.
With this win, Rajasthan Royals move on to the second qualifying round, where they will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in an attempt to secure a position against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 final. Despite moments of brilliance from their top player, RCB and Kohli are forced to mull over yet another season that ended in disappointment.
