As the T20 World Cup draws closer, rumors about who may be added to Team India’s 15-man roster are rampant. A few well-known players are automatically selected, but there are still openings for important roles in India’s T20I XI, including the finisher’s job.
Rinku Singh took the position by storm in the last year, putting up strong performances for the team after smashing 474 runs in 14 matches during the 2023 Indian Premier League. After hitting five straight sixes against Yash Dayal in one of the matches last year, when the Kolkata Knight Riders needed to win by 28 runs in the penultimate over, he became well-known.
Rinku hasn’t quite reached the three-figure threshold this season despite having scored 83 runs with two undefeated innings in six games, thus his possibilities have been limited this year. Still, he has an amazing 162.75% strike rate. Former Indian batter Sanjay Manjrekar is certain that Rinku should be “walking into” the Indian squad come World Cup season, despite some skepticism over the lack of opportunities.

Manjrekar told Firstpost, “I hope selectors won’t forget about Rinku Singh because he’s not getting many opportunities.”
He can easily fit in with the Indian squad. You’ve seen how fantastic he can be on every occasion when he’s had the chance, both in terms of consistency and range. Aside from the nucleus of the Indian squad and the major players we are considering, he’s someone I like,” Manjrekar said.
Rinku has represented India in 15 Twenty20 Internationals thus far, winning seven of them. With a stellar strike rate of 176.23 and an average that almost reaches a stunning 90 (89.00), he has amassed 356 runs.
Samson living up to “expectations”
Additionally, Manjrekar feels that Sanju Samson, an Indian wicketkeeper-batter, is living up to the hype and ought to be included in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup.
